Terrain Biennial at Lease Agreement

  • Lease Agreement Gallery 2306-A 21st Street Lubbock, TX 79411 (map)

Make Time Waste Time is a site-specific sculptural intervention created by artist Rachel Hausmann Schall. The project is a reflection on the necessity of time spent. It infers a dual meaning that pushes us to ponder how we fill the minutes in our days. It begs us to consider how we prioritize responsibilities and helps us realize the consequences of “wasting” or “making”

The Terrain Biennial is unlike any other art festival. It takes place on lawns, in front yards, on porches, beneath awnings, and in windows. Residents partner with artists to bring striking, contemporary artwork into their communities. The Terrain Biennial challenges the way art is often confined to institutional spaces and class-specific audiences. Building on Chicago’s rich tradition of apartment galleries and artist-run spaces, the Biennial brings contemporary art into the intimate terrain of the front yard, fostering dialogue between neighbors and providing access to new art for a wide range of people.

Lease Agreement is an artist-run and sometimes nomadic curatorial project by Adam Farcus. The gallery programming continues in the tradition of alternative art spaces by organizing conceptually rigorous, engaging work for exhibitions, screenings, performances, and art events. Lease Agreement has a physical gallery at 2306 21st Street, Lubbock, and also partners with galleries, organizations, businesses, and utilizes public spaces to bring contemporary art to viewers.
