On view as part of Var Gallery’s 6th iteration of the 30x30x30 exhibition May 30 - August 8, 2020. The 30 selected artists create 30 works over the course of 30 days.

Temporary is Forever

I approached this series with a sculptural mindset and wanted to utilize language in an innovative way. Experiencing the group as a whole encourages one to take a deeper look. You are rewarded by viewing each piece individually, but happily surprised upon realizing the series of 30 makes a larger statement. Letters, shapes, colors, and textures built layers which were scanned, manipulated, and then produced as prints. Experimentation in process gives me space to explore all the possibilities of language. As humans, we are in a constant state of flux. As artists, we remain curious for the entirety of our lives. During the creative process, my initial decisions are often quick and immediate. The starting point informs my next move and the work transforms. Marks, shapes, layers, and words are only temporary. But the transformation is forever. For artists, the cycle of making never ends. Temporary explorations become a forever journey.
